MBA

(Master of Business Administration)

MBA is a two-year professional postgraduate degree programme that focuses on the principles of modern management, giving students a broad understanding of business while also building leadership and soft skills to put that knowledge into practise. The full version of MBA is Master of Business Administration.

 

The minimum eligibility criteria for MBA admission is a 50 percent bachelor’s degree (5 percent relaxation is possible in some MBA colleges), however major MBA colleges in India, such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta, require a minimum of 60%. After passing the MBA entrance exams, students must pass the GD/PI rounds.

What is MBA?

MBA stands for Master of Business Administration. The first MBA college was established in the USA in 1881 after a donation from Joseph Wharton which is now known as The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. During the early 1900s only the universities of the USA provided MBA courses while other countries preferred to learn business on the job. The first College in Asia that provided MBA courses was set-up in 1953 in Calcutta and is known as The Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM).

MBA Admission

MBA Admission takes place through MBA entrance exams which can be All India entrance Exams like CAT, MAT, GMAT or MBA entrance Exams conducted by Universities like SNAP, XAT, NMAT. 

MBA Admissions are based on the group discussion and personal interview post the entrance exam for MBA. The institutes use GD/PI to examine each candidate’s attributes that cannot be measured by their academic score or admission exam result (CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, SNAP). 

MBA Eligibility

MBA Eligibility criteria might vary from college to college, but the overall gist is the same.

  • Students must complete their graduation. Students who are in the final year of graduation can also apply provided a provision certificate is submitted.
  • Students must have a minimum of 50% in graduation in order to study MBA. Top institutes like IIMs and IITs ask for 60%in graduation. 
  • Students belonging to the reserved categories like OBC, SC and ST get 5% relaxation in the percentage asked in some MBA colleges.

MBA Jobs and Placements

The main purpose of doing an MBA Course is due to the high salary after Master of Business Administration. MBA Salary varies from one MBA specialization to the other. MBA Finance jobs have the most returns of INR 15Lacs to 20 Lacs per annum. MBA Internships are part of the course curriculum and it is mandatory. BBA

(Bachelor of Business Administration)

Types of BBA

BBA Admission Process

Students who wants to study BBA Degree can take admission in any BBA College. The admission process process are of two types-entrance exam based and direct admission.

  • Direct Admission for Bachelor of Business Administration is based on the marks secured by the candidate at the secondary level (+2).
  • Students from any stream with a minimum of 50% marks in 12th can apply for BBA admission in colleges and universities across India.
  •  The application process of these exams usually starts in the month of April-May every year.

BBA Eligibility

  • Education Qualification: Candidates must have passed their class 12th examinations from any stream and a recognised board in order to be eligible for BBA course.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates must have at least scored a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in 12th. Some premier colleges ask for 60% marks.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be aged between 17 to 22 years for general category, and 17 to 24 years for reserved categories.

BBA Jobs and Placements

BBA Jobs include positions like Business Development Executive, Executive Assistant, Marketing Executive etc. BBA Salary ranges from INR 3 Lakhs to INR 7 Lakhs.

MBA or Master in Business Administration is a 3-years postgraduate degree course that deals with the study of fundamentals of Management Studies including marketing management, strategic management, business management and many others.

MBA salary in India varies depending upon the specializations in MBA, however the average MBA salary in India can be between INR 10 – 15 LPA.

Candidates who have completed their graduation in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks and have a valid score of any entrance exams such as CAT, GMAT, GRE, MAT, etc.

A 5 year MBA is an integrated MBA program which combines the study of both undergraduate and postgraduate programs of BBA and MBA in 5-years. A 5-year MBA program can be pursued after completing 12th. 

To be eligible for MBA one must have completed their graduation in any stream with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks and have a valid score of any entrance exams such as CAT, GMAT, GRE, MAT, etc.

The basic eligibility for BBA admission is an aggregate of 55% marks in Class XII from a recognized educational board. However, some state universities (like the Delhi University) admit students based on their aggregate percentage in 10+2 

BBA entrance exam is a basic management and aptitude test. Which means that the test would examine a candidate’s general aptitude and knowledge in management principles. Practising regularly for the test is a no-brainer. However, these following tips should be considered for better performance:

Clear quantitative approach – Most of the quantitative questions are Class X level. Therefore you must be familiar with the basic concepts, formulas and shortcuts.
